Accessibility Statement

Last Updated: February 2026

Our Commitment

The L.J. Bridge Foundation is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible to all visitors, including veterans, military families, caregivers, donors, and community members of all abilities. We believe that every person who seeks information about our programs or needs assistance should be able to navigate and use our website without barriers. Accessibility is not only a legal responsibility but a reflection of our core mission to bridge the gap for those who have served.

Standards We Follow

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines are the internationally recognized standard for web accessibility and address a wide range of recommendations for making content more accessible to people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive impairments.

Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following features across our website to support accessibility:

  • Keyboard Navigation — All interactive elements, including navigation menus, links, buttons, and form fields, are fully operable using a keyboard alone. You can navigate through the site using the Tab key, activate elements with Enter or Space, and close menus with Escape.
  • Screen Reader Support — We use semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, and descriptive labels to ensure that screen readers can accurately interpret and announce page content, navigation, forms, and interactive components.
  • Color Contrast — Text and interactive elements meet WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratio requirements (at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text) to ensure readability for visitors with low vision or color vision deficiencies.
  • Text Resizing — Our layout is built with flexible, responsive design principles. Content remains readable and usable when text is resized up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Skip Navigation — A “Skip to main content” link is provided at the top of every page, allowing keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repetitive navigation and jump directly to the primary content area.
  • Form Labels and Error Handling — All form fields have visible labels and are associated with their labels programmatically. Required fields are clearly indicated. Error messages are descriptive and linked to the relevant fields so users can identify and correct issues efficiently.
  • Focus Indicators — Visible focus outlines are provided on all interactive elements so keyboard users can track their position on the page at all times.
  • Reduced Motion — We respect the “prefers-reduced-motion” operating system setting. When enabled, animations and transitions are minimized or disabled throughout the site.
  • Consistent Navigation — Navigation menus, page structure, and interactive patterns are consistent across all pages to reduce cognitive load and support predictable browsing.
  • Descriptive Link Text — Links are written with descriptive text that makes sense out of context, avoiding vague labels like “click here.”

Assistive Technologies Tested

We test our website with the following assistive technologies and methods to verify accessibility:

  • Screen Readers — VoiceOver (macOS and iOS) and NVDA (Windows)
  • Keyboard-Only Navigation — Full site navigation and form completion without a mouse
  • Browser Zoom — Testing at 200% and 400% zoom levels across modern browsers
  • Automated Testing — Axe DevTools and Lighthouse accessibility audits

We test using the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge on both desktop and mobile devices.

As web standards evolve and new assistive technologies emerge, we will continue to update our practices accordingly.
